Like the last field test, this attempt was also spoiled by GPS/receiver related issues. Repairing the breakout board for the GPS module proved to be more difficult than expected (that and I’m clumsy). I melted the connector, and had to then solder wires straight to the GPS board. We never got around to reinforcing the wire solder connections, guaranteeing that they would constantly break free. For simplicity, we will be purchasing another breakout board.

On top of the GPS issues, the Berg 4L receiver continued to exhibit abysmal performance. Thorough testing was done with our modified receiver, as well as with a brand new one. In the end, we’ve given up on this product and suggest you do the same.
